HARARE – It is with great sadness that I learned of the passing of Mr. Danny Bismark, one of the most iconic and respected members of Zimbabwe's Coloured community.
He passed on in Harare this week at the age of 90.
Danny will long be remembered for his immense contribution to society, both in sport and community affairs. He devoted much of his life to empowering, guiding, and uplifting members of his community, always placing service to others above personal recognition.
A passionate and dedicated football administrator, Danny played a pivotal role in the development of Arcadia United, helping to establish it as one of Zimbabwe's most renowned football clubs. He spent countless hours working tirelessly to ensure the construction of the Arcadia clubhouse, creating a lasting legacy for future generations. In recognition of his outstanding contribution, the community honoured him by naming the football ground the Danny Bismark Stadium.
Beyond football, Danny was widely respected for his generosity and philanthropy. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, supporting disadvantaged members of the community and making a meaningful difference in the lives of many.
In the business world, Danny also distinguished himself through his long association with PG Timbers, where he earned the respect and admiration of colleagues, customers, and friends alike through his professionalism, integrity, and commitment to excellent service.
