HARARE – Craig Davidson, son of Zimbabwean cycling legend Linda Warren, will line up for Scotland against his country of birth Zimbabwe in the World Rugby Under-20 Trophy opener in Kenya on Saturday.

Harare-born Davidson first attended the junior school of Hellenic in the Zimbabwean capital, then went off to Hilton College in South Africa.

He moved to Scotland after completing high school in KwaZulu-Natal.

Davidson is the son of Linda Warren, a former Zimbabwe and Africa cycling champion. His two sisters, Skye and Cameryn, have both represented Zimbabwean in triathlon. Skye continues to race for Zimbabwe in road cycling and Cameryn in water polo.

Their father Wayne Davidson is a former Zimbabwe national triathlon coach.

A truly sporting family: their late maternal grandfather, Brian Warren, was a long-serving head of Zimbabwe’s judo federation and considered a national godfather in that sport.

Good old Brian, a Zimbabwean patriot through-and-through, will be looking over and feel slightly split when his grandson take to the field for his adopted country against the homeland at the Nyayo National Stadium on Nairobi on Saturday.
