BULAWAYO – A heavily rotated Zimbabwe side battled to a hard-fought 17-7 victory over Zambia at Hartsfield Rugby Ground on Saturday, continuing their preparations for a demanding international season.
Despite making several changes to the lineup, Zimbabwe, without the bulk of their foreign-based stars, had enough overcome their much-improved Southern African neighbours in a tightly contested encounter.
The result sealed a clean sweep for Zimbabwe, who had already beaten Zambia 43-31 in the first match of the series at Harare Sports Club.
The back-to-back victories underline the Sables’ growing depth as they rotate their squad ahead of tougher tests later in the year.
With a packed international calendar ahead, the coaching staff opted to give opportunities to fringe players, who stepped up with a composed performance in Bulawayo.
The win provides valuable momentum for Zimbabwe as they continue to fine-tune combinations and build squad depth in preparation for upcoming international competitions. – ZimSport Live
