BULAWAYO – Tavengwa Mukuhlani is set to be retained unopposed as chairman of Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) at an elective AGM in Bulawayo on Saturday.

Mukuhlani has been head of the ZC board since 2015 when he unexpectedly defeated Wilson Manase. He then gained yet another new term four years later following an AGM in Victoria Falls, so will be going for a third one this time around.

A pharmacist by profession, Mukuhlani entered cricket administration in the early 2000s as a board member before he later on deputised the long-serving ZC boss Peter Chingoka.

He then took a break from the game, in the meanwhile stratergising his comeback and subsequent electoral victory in 2015.

In November 2022, Mukuhlani was reported to have launched an ambitious bid to become the chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC) before he withdrew on the eve of the meeting to pave way for the re-elected New Zealander Greg Barclay.

Also a politician, Mukuhlani has recently been re-elected a Member of Parliament on the ruling Zanu-PF party ticket.
